This week's project was My Scrappy Box and it caught my interest because I want to make a bunch of boxes to store my scraps so I'm trying out different patterns. This was my first one. I used scraps from a commission I'm working on right now. I tend to do that - grab whatever's on my sewing table at the time.

Yeeeeaaaah....no.
Too much hand sewing for this lazy so and so. And I think some of the dimensions for cutting are off too - my side pieces ended up being narrower than I think they are supposed to be. That could also be what we love calling "operator error" at the office.
Anyway, I cobbled it together and it turned out fine. Sometimes that's all you can ask for, you know?
It's part of the Zakka Along 2.0: Patchwork, Please! sew-along - check out the flickr pool here!
Good to give it a go - that's more than I pulled off so hight five for your cobbled efforts.

ReplyDeleteEven cobbled together it looks terrific. I love it
ReplyDeleteIt looks darling just the same!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, even though you had to fudge it a bit.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Is the outside fabric Seaside Rose or Canadian Cottage?
ReplyDeleteMore than I managed too, I like the fabrics, very sweet!
ReplyDeleteLove it anyway! How could you not?
ReplyDeleteLove the box. Are there instructions somewhere?
ReplyDeleteHi Ellen, thanks for your kind words!
DeleteYes! The instructions are in the book Patchwork, Please! by Amy Takahashi. If you click through to the Flickr group from the link in my post, you will find all the details.
love the fabrics you used for the box! very summery feel to it. The box doesn't look very big tho, so how many scraps would it hold? Also I was wondering what have you used to support the shape?
ReplyDeleteIt's very cute. I'm sure scraps would LOVE living in it!
