WIP Wednesday

Things have been puttering along in ol' Felicity Quilts Studios in lovely (but often rainy) Vancouver BC.

Stuff I've Done Since My Last WIP Wednesday Report...

Ballet Bag finished.
Sea Glass on Sand finished.
Halloween mini and placemat - two finishes, actually (but only one made it to the In Progress list).
Frugal stitching I mentioned last week (but they don't count toward my stats!).

And another Barcelona A-line skirt. I used stretch denim, omitting the zipper again, and it is super comfy!

I left the bottom hem "unfinished" because I kind of like the look of the serged edge.

Next time I make this skirt, I think I will take in the waist or try a smaller size, because the waist is swimming on me despite it fitting relatively well in the hips region. Or maybe I will try altering the pattern with some darts? Or maybe I will whip up the other A-line skirt pattern I bought recently for $3 - it has darts. Decisions, decisions.

Up Next on the Worktable...

Quilting! I asked for some advice ages ago, and I realized my on-hand thread colours was severely limiting my creativity. I remedied that this weekend (Aurifil vendor at the quilt show I attended), and now I have some matching thread.

I've been sketching and practicing new FMQ patterns (thank you, Angela Walters book and Craftsy class!) so I'm ready to go. Wish me luck!

This Week's Stats:
New Projects - 0
Completed Projects - 3
In Progress - 8

Busy but happy, that's me! I'm linking up at WIP Wednesday and The Needle and Thread Network - please come by and check out the massive amounts of creativity happening all over the internets!

  12. I love your colours and the thread is going to really help make this quilt. Sometimes you have to just wait for the perfect thread/fabric to complete a project.

  13. It all looks great Felicity. The Aurifil on the green spool, is that thicker weight than the orange spool?

  19. I'm bummed that my retreat coincided with quilt show weekend and I missed them! Love the skirt. I'd go with darts - I've seen two other people with a similar problem with this pattern.

  20. The Barcelona Skirt without a zipper?? I wanna know how to do that! I made mine (the layered version) with stretch denim, lining, and the zipper...and I hardly ever wear it because it's just the smidgiest smidge too tight.
Your blue and green quilt looks great, too! So bright and colorful -- like everything you do. :)

  21. Good luck on the fmq, I know you will have some fun. I think you could add darts to your skirt now if you wanted them, it looks comfortable.
