On the Plus Side

This month, the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild celebrated its second anniversary. Well do I remember that first meeting - it was exhilarating, fun, and full of inspiration. It still is!

We usually have some kind of monthly block challenge, and this month, we riffed off the Quilt Con Block Challenge and used the VMQG logo colours to create 12½" by whatever blocks.

The logo (designed by Cynthia Frenette of Green Couch Designs. Cynthia is also a fabric designer with Robert Kaufman!):

My block comprises several smaller free-pieced "plus" blocks.

When I presented it at Show and Tell, I said that those plus signs symbolized all that belonging to VMQG has added to my life: friends, laughter, inspiration. Definitely "on the plus side" of things.

  9. I love your block - and the idea that you guys have a block challenge at most meetings. Do you collect the blocks at the end and use them for a charity quilt? Or do you each keep your own? I'd love to hear more about this - I'm on the programming committee for the Chicago modern quilt guild, we're always looking for new ideas! :)

I *love* comments, and I try to respond to every one by email (but I can't if you're a no-reply blogger!). So go on, don't be shy - leave one to let me know you've stopped by!
