WIP Wednesday: All Pouched Out

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

Hello! I'm writing from the Felicity Quilts Pouch Sweatshop here in (not-at-all-sunny-didn't-you-get-the-memo-it's-June?) Vancouver. Lots of production this week - we've exceeded our quota! Three pouches for teacher gifts, and two more for the Vancouver Modern Quilts Guild's pouch swap with the Portland Modern Quilt Guild.

A full post on the swap pouches is forthcoming - for now, here's a sneak peek at one of them.

swap pouch sneak peek
That's Aurifil 12wt 100% cotton thread - absolutely dreamy to stitch with.

That little tag with the "F" on it is my attempt at a DIY labeling strategy. I stamped the letters FQ on some cotton twill tape, folded it and sewed it into the side seam. I'm thinking I should just fall off my wallet and order some labels.

So while I was making the pouches, I wasn't doing anything else that remotely addressed my WIP situation. Not to worry - all that will change once I spend all day this Saturday at one of Krista's fabulous day retreats.

In other news, my Habitat pillows have made it into the finals of the Summer Sewing Contest at Ellison Lane! Lots of beautiful projects have been shortlisted - please do go have a look and vote for your favourites.

  2. Yay, that pillow is awesome, Felicity! I voted for it! Your post made me laugh because I'm feeling like a lunch bag and coaster sweatshop this week! Looking forward to seeing more of the pouches!

  4. What I wouldn't give for some cool weather, grey, and lots of rain. Since Fresno broke a record Sunday at 109 degrees! Trying not sweat all over my keyboard.

I LOVE your Habitat pillows--you did an amazing job with some, um, interesting fabric...

Pouches and me...so far, not great friends. But I can't wait to see yours!

  5. Hate to tell you this - 35km to the west of you yesterday and today it was beautiful sunny and gorgeous outside. I am seriously convinced that we get nicer weather over here than the mainland. MIL was visiting from abbotsford on the weekend and she was saying the same thing. Things just seem to blow over here a lot quicker for some reason.

"Fall off my wallet" - hehe, that gave me a giggle. :)

  8. I love June but so far it's been ridiculous weather wise...too many extremes. Right now we are having a HEAT wave:(

Congrats on getting into the finals...good luck.

  9. I am on the fence about labels still too . I just don't know where to order them from. Do you know where?

  10. I can never decide whether to make the leap to order labels either!

  11. I have been thinking about labels, too. you need just the right ink to do it yourself -- I used to have a Print Gocco that made great labels, in fact I sold labels for quilts and did quite well but that was 20 years ago. Maybe a Yudu?

  12. Love the look of the 12wt Auriful! I'll have to see if my only source here in Sask. has some!

I *love* comments, and I try to respond to every one by email (but I can't if you're a no-reply blogger!). So go on, don't be shy - leave one to let me know you've stopped by!
