May Is My Month

I'm Queen Bee for the month of May in my Stash Trad Bee. We make traditional blocks using our own stash rather than sending out our fabric for the others to sew with - a Bee option I have come to realize that I vastly prefer.

Stash Trad has been very fun so far and now it's my turn. Yes, I'm aware that it's still April but like I've said, I've managed to get myself involved with an entire bee full of over-achievers so I don't want to be the weak link!

I hemmed and hawed about what to choose, but ended up with something I think will look fabulously bright and scrappy when the quilt is all done up.

colourful churn dash

It's four 6" churn dash blocks put together into one 12" (finished) block. I asked for two fabrics per churn dash, and that there be some variation in backgrounds - you can see one churn dash has the lighter-value fabric as the background, and others have the darker-value fabric as the background.

I'm really excited to see what everyone does with this block.

  1. Oooh, fun! I really like that. And I really like the idea of making four smaller blocks into one large block. I'm in my first bee which is the send fabric out type, so we'll see how it goes. At this point I think I prefer that, simply because my stash is minimal. I may change my mind after this year though! Still eagerly awaiting my first fabric package for the bee, from Florida!

  2. I made my block Felicity and it is on Flickr. I never, ever use this much color in one place so I am worried. My husband looked a little shocked when I showed it to him but I tried to follow your directions. I will redo it for you if it hurts your eyes, promise, just tell me please!

  4. I totally dig this block, Felicity, and if they're all as bright and loud as Amy's, this is going to be a super fab quilt. Can't wait to work on my block for you :)
