Let's get right to it, shall we?
Arkansas Traveler: 1, Felicity: 0
It's Lee's month in the Stash Trad Bee, and she requested an Arkansas Traveler block in beachy tones.
Looks nice, you say? What's this about losing this round of the battle, you say? Take a closer look. I've taken the liberty of adding some explanatory graphics and text:
As you can probably tell by the stitch marks and loose threads, I have already unsewn and resewn some seams. Looks like I need to try again. Third time lucky, I hope!
In better news, check this out - it's Easy Going Modern in a Layer Cake version.
This one, I'm happy with. I used a Terrain Layer Cake. The photo was taken at a local beach - we've been having beautifully sunny weather the last couple of days. A nice surprise during a season that is usually exclusively rainy (not that I'm complaining - you don't have to shovel rain!).
Other than the iPad case and the pouch, I didn't sew too much this last week.
Go see what everyone else got up to!
Love the Terrain quilt and such a beautiful shot!ReplyDelete
I HATE unpicking :(
Aww, your Terrain quilt turned out just lovely!! And yay for nice weather! Boo for your block troubles, I know I can't stand unpicking, I'm crossing my fingers that your 3rd attempt goes better!ReplyDelete
good luck with your block - SO frustrating! But your new top should make you feel good - very nice!ReplyDelete
I remember that Arkansas Traveler block from the summer sampler last summer - it caused me alot of grief! So glad I don't plan to make it again! :-)ReplyDelete
Love the Terrain quilt, beautiful!
No fun using the seam ripper - good luck on the next attempt. Did get a chuckle at your graphic. :) Love the Terrain quilt.ReplyDelete
Gorgeous picture at the beach! Sorry about the block. Mine required some unpicking too and I still wasn't 100% happy with the center.ReplyDelete
Being new to quilting I often mess up little things. Big ones I unpick little ones like the corners I don't because I would never get a quilt done. It will be interesting the differences when I have don't this 10 plus years.ReplyDelete
Stop by for my quilt givaway to guess my babys b-day and weight.
Looove the beach shot! We have many beautiful beaches here too but I've never been brave enough to take a quilt to the beach for photos. ;-)ReplyDelete
Grrr I hate when the points don't line up, so fustrating. I hope the next round goes smoother. At least you have that beautiful Terrian quilt to look at. Great beach pictures.ReplyDelete
Love the Terrain quilt - so cute!ReplyDelete
Terrain is so lovely! good luck with your points - I don't have much experience with anything but right angles and even that's tricky for me sometimes!ReplyDelete
I love the added graphics on your block. Your Terrain quilt is gorgeous!!ReplyDelete
The Arkansas Traveler block is looking great, here's hoping the points match on your next try! I love that you took your colourful Terrain quilt top to the beach. Haven't these sunny days been a gift?ReplyDelete
I would have never even noticed that! Love the quilt block and love the terrain quilt!ReplyDelete
No, don't worry about it, no need to try again! I think the block looks great just the way it is—I don't require laser precision. : ) Thanks for trying though! Can't wait to put this quilt together! And of course, thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday!ReplyDelete
I think your easy going modern in "terrain" is beautiful! And the photo shot is beautiful as well.ReplyDelete
As far as Arkansas Traveler, I don't know why but once I start un-sewing and re-sewing, etc., etc., etc., it doesn't matter if I pin, baste, whatever...it always ends up looking nearly the same as the beginning problem. Hoping third time IS the charm for you.
Love your Easy Going Modern quilt!ReplyDelete
