Ah, Disney and your need to include at least one terrifying (for children) sequence in every blessed movie you make. I guess my little one's extra sensitive or something but really....the sequence with the imaginary creature called a Backson (Owl read a note from Christopher Robin incorrectly - it actually said "Back soon")? Really upset her. As in, wailing at full voice ("whisper" is not in a 3.5 year old's lexicon), "I WANT TO LEAVE THIS PLACE. I DON'T LIKE THE BACKSON." Et cetera. I managed to calm her by whispering that it was imaginary etc. but yeah...I give the experience 6/10. Oh, and? If you've got a young, impressionable child, don't get there in time for the previews. Puss 'n Boots (from Shrek) has his own movie. That one elicited, "WHY IS THERE SO MUCH BUMPING???" when Puss kept swinging off roofs and whacking stuff. Sigh. I sure hope she's not scarred for life. Let's put it this way: we won't be watching Bambi anytime soon.
On a happier note, I will leave you with a couple of photos taken at our most recent VMQG meeting where I showed my Kona Solids Challenge quilt. Whilst wearing turquoise shoes! And not properly sucking in my tum!
I just adore that quilt...are you hanging it in your home? I hope so!
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes!
ReplyDeleteLove your shoes! I'm wondering which Kona color they'd be... :) And I still love that quilt. Big time.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Seriously, Winnie the Pooh? Why do all of the Disney movies have to involve someone in mortal peril (usually a parent??).
I. Love. This. Quilt! Especially the way you quilted it, in rings. :)
ReplyDeleteWe tend to have the same problems with movies. Addy was freaked out by the cat in some Tinkerbelle movie that I got from the Red Box, so we never even got to finish that one!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt and the shoes! (And boo to pictures of wardrobe mishaps! Why are those things always caught on film? I think you look lovely either way!)
Love the skirt! Classey lady! Who cares about the tum!
ReplyDeleteI was totally lusting after those shoes on Thursday night!! Our first theatre experience at the exact same age was Stuart Little. We made it to the sailboat race on the Central Park duck pond, whereby dramatic orchestrated music to imply impending doom for the mouse scared my little guy right out of the theatre. Approximately 20 minutes of movie after $12 on parking, $16 to get in and $18 on snacks. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteI love your shoes but I also really love your quilt. Movies with kids! Sigh! With my daughter it was Beauty and the Beast. Terrified her. Then she fell asleep right near the end. She was about 3 or 4. She was so tiny, we had to wedge the seat with my purse so that the seat would stay down and not fold up on her. Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteWell I think the quilt is awesome, the turquoise shoes rock and you are adorable.
ReplyDeleteWinnie the Pooh: I took both Levi and Charlotte last week. It didn't bother either of them, but what bothered me was the fact that I paid $8 ($8!!!!!) each for a movie that is one hour and 9 minutes, at 11 a.m. in the morning, for little people who are 3 and 4 years old! Really??
I LOVE this quilt and the shoes!!!;)
ReplyDeleteMy Mother in law saw Bambi when it first came out and to this day it still freaks her out!
ReplyDeleteI saw this quilt when it was tweeted about by Robert Kaufman was it? Anyways, it was even more breath taking in person when I saw it last Thursday! Love it!
Oh and your shoes were pretty awesome and extremely colour coordinated with your outfit! ;)
That quilt is fantastic. I especially love the quilting. Did you free motion quilt it?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the head's up about WTP. I had planned to take my 3 year old daughter but it sounds as if it might not be a good idea.
I love this quilt and it was great to see it in person. Love your shoes as well!
ReplyDeleteI want you to know that your use of the term "egregious waistband" has given me the giggles at least a few times this week. This quilt is beautiful and so well done. Every choice you made seems perfectly suited to it.
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes, and the commentary on the tum ;)
ReplyDeleteBTW, did you know Winnie was named after Winnipeg? True dat!
I love the quilt and the shoes!! both are gorgeous (and look nice together!)
