Stash Report, Where The Hell Did March Go? Edition

Week 13 (ending March 28, 2010)

Used this week: 29 m (!!!)
Used this year to date: 50.13 m
Added this week: 2.4 m
Added this year to date: 33.18 m
Net Stash Busted in 2010: 16.95m

So that 29 m "used" this week is actually being sold/given away. I did a small cull of my stash and tried to be honest with myself about what fabrics I would really and truly use. I bought another quilter's stash a few years ago and I kept some yardages that I didn't love, thinking they could be used for backings. Since then, I've discovered pieced backings. And I've also realized that I really should LOVE (most of) the fabric I use in quilt and that includes the back.

So I've got a few yards listed on Craigslist (we'll see*) and the rest - lower-quality chain store cotton - is going on Freecycle or in the bag to donate to Canadian Diabetes. There are definitely more that can go, but I'm taking it slowly.

It felt so. good. to get rid of fabric. It really really did. So I celebrated with a teeny bit of new stuff.

*Edited to add: I sold it for $40! Wheeeee! Next up: the books!

  1. I agree -- we should only sew with fabrics we find pretty! You did well at sorting through your stash. :) Take care, Dianne B. in England

  2. I broke out of my traditional comfort zone and pieced a back today. Wow can I see the stash in my house dwindle now!

I *love* comments, and I try to respond to every one by email (but I can't if you're a no-reply blogger!). So go on, don't be shy - leave one to let me know you've stopped by!
