WIP Focus: Welcome Baby quilt, Plan C

As I mentioned in another post, I've changed my mind again about the Welcome Baby quilt. The little baby has arrived and he's a boy. And the purple in the original quilt seemed to make it less unisex and more girly, so I wanted to start again. Then I thought I'd use the orange/grey combo, but the block I want to do will take too long.

So, onto Plan C. I had some adorable car and truck fabric in my stash, and I was reminded of this tutorial by Amy at Diary of a Quilter. Here is the beginning of the quilt, laid out on my "design wall."

The small purple square on the left is some scraps that I have to use to piece together another purple square because I was short of that fabric.

Here's a closeup of the truck/car fabric. I'm pretty sure it's Michael Miller.

The positive is that I busted more stash by switching horses mid-stride! I will use the remainder of the car fabric for a border and put whatever's left over on the back or use it for the binding.

I do still plan to stitch up the other quilt - maybe even cut a few more pieces and make two Preemie quilts for my Guild's charity.

  2. Oh you are very sneaky starting a blog and keeping it a secret! It didn't take me long to sniff it out! Happy stash busting!

I *love* comments, and I try to respond to every one by email (but I can't if you're a no-reply blogger!). So go on, don't be shy - leave one to let me know you've stopped by!
