The thing that is making me happy today is that I can make things that are both pretty and functional.
Take, for example, my new Nook. I am really enjoying it, and one of the main things that made me so excited to get one was not that I could use it to borrow eBooks from the library (though that is fabulous). It was that I could use some precious and special fabric to make a case for it. Seriously!
Tonight, I set about doing just that. I loosely followed this helpful tutorial. I say "loosely" because I didn't use minky, and I used fusible fleece to pad both the inner and outer fabrics.
The outer fabric is some beautiful Far Far Away II that I received as an extra in a swap. I used some Mendocino for the lining.
Cute, isn't it? TOO BAD IT'S TOO SMALL FOR MY NOOK! Not. Even. Joking. I measured the freaking thing and added an inch to the width and height to determine the size of my fabric cuts. I guess with the fluffy fleece, the zipper closure and whatnot, that wasn't enough.
Thank goodness I still have enough of both fabrics to try this again. Another time. *sob*
Have a great weekend!
Oh no! That happened to me with the first laptop sleeve I made. The second one fit..until I shrunk it in the wash.ReplyDelete
Agh! Isn't that an awful feeling? Well, it was really cute...ReplyDelete
Awww, argh! It sure is awfully cute...bummer! It would make a super cute little pouch all the same :)ReplyDelete
Oh no! I know you must have been so bummed. I feel your pain. Hopefully it can be put to good use for something else- it is so, so cute.ReplyDelete
That is such a bummer! It is so cute! I am sure you will find a great way to use it and show it off though. Good luck with round 2!ReplyDelete
Well, that's not a felicity at all! Not cool. I'm sure you can find another use for the lovely pouch.ReplyDelete
Oh no!!! Doesn't that just stink! It's cute...but that is hardly any consolation now is it...ReplyDelete
bummer! That is so something that would happen to me!! Try, try again,I guess.....ReplyDelete
Well, congrats on getting a nook (I confess that I'd like an ipad for many reasons but in part to make it a cover). Hopefully the cover ca be used for something else and I'm sure the new one will be fab.ReplyDelete
well darn! But it's a super cute little pouch, all the same - I'm sure you'll make good use of it!ReplyDelete
Aww, that's too bad! Luckily you'll be able to use it for something else, plus it's adorable :) I have also had that problem before. I've even cut fabric for projects without thinking about seam allowance at all! It helps to know there is so much more good fabric out there!ReplyDelete
Been there too. A pouch for my Sony Reader, beautiful fabric, pocket for the accessories, cover button and too darn small. It is enough to make you scream.ReplyDelete
There is always tomorrow though. And the new one will be even better. Trust me. Mine is.
I love love love that Owl & Pussycat fabric, that was one of my favourite poems as a child! I know exactly how you feel with the case being too small. I once made up a bunch of coffee cup cozies, but instead of making a tester first, I made them all assembly line style. Yeah, they would have fit cups for smurfs.ReplyDelete
Oh no! Sure you can find another use for it anywayReplyDelete
shoot! and it's so cute!ReplyDelete
And I keep meaning to get you a thank you for sending the sling... ♥
So sweet of you.
bummer.. but it is so cute!ReplyDelete
Can you send it to me? I'm SURE it will fit something here at my house!ReplyDelete
