Not Exactly a Resolution

When asked what my New Year's Resolution(s) are, I usually reply that I don't make resolutions because they're too negative. I make *goals.*

My goal for 2010 is to make my quilting more active.

I think about quilting a lot. Like, A LOT. I love it. I love to read about it, I love to see what others are doing, I love to buy fabric, I love to plan projects. But I found it hard to make the time to do it for some weirdo reason. The best I can come up with is that I get overwhelmed by all the project ideas swimming around in my head, and I forget that every quilt is made up of small steps. A cut here, a seam there....With a two-year old and a full time job outside the home, I don't have a lot of uninterrupted time to quilt anymore (side note: what the heck did I do with all my time before I had this kid???).

So my 2010 resolution *ahem* goal is to spend just 20 minutes a day on my hobby. It can be more, but it can't be less. I've started this blog as a kind of online diary/check-in strategy to keep me on track and motivated.

And as of today, I'm delighted to say that 4 days into the year, I've met my goal. Stay tuned for another goal, and for random reports on what I'm up to.

  1. I think this is a great goal...sometimes all I have is 20-30 minutes...but it seems to help so much even if I just get a little done. Yesterday all I got to do was prep some blocks while watching American Idol...but now I have a whole pile ready to sew! Thanks so much for the blog visit!

  2. Great idea! I think I just set myself a new "goal"...to draw for at least 10 minutes every day. :)

  3. Awesome goal! I still shoot for that! Or at least do 'something' in my studio...

I *love* comments, and I try to respond to every one by email (but I can't if you're a no-reply blogger!). So go on, don't be shy - leave one to let me know you've stopped by!
